Priest silenced by the Vatican for saying raping children might be wrong

Oh, it’s the usual stuff.

Father Tony Flannery, a Catholic priest who has been outspoken in his criticism of the abuse crisis in Ireland, has found himself under investigation by the Vatican for his liberal views.

They’ve told him to stop writing articles. Yeah, I know, it’s not surprising but fuck me when will this organisation run out of evil?  Just when you think there must be none left, they come up with a fresh supply.  It’s easy enough to see where they get it from though, just look at the comments to that article:

When you become a priest you agree to follow the laws of the Catholic Church. Your job is to teach those laws to your flock and encourage them to do their best to live within those laws. The Pope, Cardinals and bishops are responsible for making changes to the laws as they deem necessary for the good of the church. The problem with the liberals and some of the conservatives is they think they have a right to change the church’s laws to fit their own agenda. All changes should come from the top down; recommendations for change should go from the bottom up for consideration.

So if your boss tells you that raping children is totally fine, you should just get on with it. How fucking charming.
